Fourth Consecutive Top Ten For Alex At Assen

There have been four races in the 2015 World Supersport championship and so far Alex Baldolini has raced his privately entered MV Agusta into the top ten on each occasion.

The recent Dutch round, the 4th round of the year saw Alex once again struggle in qualifying but fight through the field to secure another 7 world championship points after a determined ride to 9th.

Assen is not a circuit that Alex is particularly fond of so the result is pleasing for him and the Race Department ATK#25 squad, as they once again found what was missing during morning warm to give them a fighting chance come race time.

Sunday’s result at Assen maintains Baldo’s position inside the overall top ten of the World Championship.

The next round takes place not far from Alex’s home, at the iconic Imola circuit. Imola is a circuit that Alex loves and given his pace in the opening encounters of 2015, he is confident of putting on a good show in the first of two visits to Italy in this year’s campaign.

Alex Baldolini – “Again, here in the Netherlands it hasn’t been an easy round. As “tradition” says, in the qualifying session we were further back than we should be and this doesn’t help us for the race. After the warm up, thanks to the last minute changes by the team on the setup of my MV I had a good feeling when braking and I was confident for the race. I started carefully since I wanted to be sure that the tyres were at the right temperature before pushing to the limit, because it was too cold, however, surprisingly I was able to overtake some riders during the first laps. I was held a little by Wahr and Gamarino, I got stuck behind them even though I had a faster pace, but I wasn’t able to overtake them. Faccani overtook them and ran away, but Gamarino and Wahr were overtaking each other several times and that slowed the laptimes until they touched and crashed just in front of me. Fortunately I could avoid them and I didn’t crash, even though I lost a lot of time and the group behind us overtook me. I tried to be relaxed and on the last laps I overtook Rea, Cardenas and Russo to finish 9th. I’m quite satisfied, I know we can do better but bagging another top10 in a track which I don’t like is always positive. I can’t wait for the Imola Round, a track that I really love, I hope I can get a good spot on the grid to show our real potential during the race.”
