Alex Baldolini finished 6th in the second race of the World Supersport championship which took place today at the extremely hot and humid Chang International Circuit, in Thailand.
The result elevates Baldo to equal 4th in the overall classification as the series moves to Motorland Aragon, Spain for round 3.
The Race Department ATK#25 rider started from 5th on the grid and was with the leading group during the first third of the race before losing touch slightly in the final laps. Nevertheless with this hot weather the performance of the engine wasnt as good as yesterday and so did the tyres, that FINiSHED before than they did on the free practices. After nearly crashing twice as the tyres started to fade in the extreme heat Alex decided to continue to push eventually taking the chequered flag less than 9 seconds behind the winner.
Baldo was the best placed Italian rider and the second best MV Agusta entrant.
After the opening two overseas rounds the bikes will return to Europe to face the third round of the season which will be held on 3rd April at Motorland Aragon, Spain.
Alex Baldolini - 6th: “It's been another good race where we have finished 6th again. We Are the second MV which is pleasing as we are a small private team. It wasn't an easy race, as it was much hotter today compared to the other days. This affected us a little as the engine wasn't as fast as previous days due too the high temperature. The tyres also went off before I expected. I was able to complete half of the race with the leading group but then I was forced to slow down my pace because I nearly lost the front twice. Unfortunately, Kyle Smith overtook me and I couldn't follow him.We finished 6th so we showed again our potential both in the race and qualifying. The next round is at Motorland Aragon, a track that I love. I can't wait to get back on track because many friends and family will come to the first European race"
