Baldolini Looking Ahead after Sepang Result

Alex Baldolini added another 7 points to his World Supersport tally in 2016 after finishing 9th in a rain soaked 14 lap race at the Sepang International Circuit.
Plagued by problems from the opening day which saw Free Practice 2 washed out courtesy of a Malaysian thunderstorm Baldo rode well but with confidence diminishing on a drying track he had to be content with 9th at the flag after losing two places in closing stages.
Despite not finishing in the top 6 which on paper and based on the previous races was more than possible, Alex was full of praise for the Race Department ATK#25 team after they worked through the night to replace an engine before the race.

Alex Baldolini: "It hasn't been a good weekend for sure. Things didn't go well from the first session and we lost the only one hour dry session to find a good setting and we paid for this on Saturday in Superpole. The race was delayed until after Superbikes so it meant a lot of waiting but we were ready. We started the race well on wet tyres and I thought I could stay with the leading group but I lost so much time overtaking Terol and when I did eventually make it through there was a 2 second gap to the next group. I pushed to try to catch them but I nearly crashed twice and as the track was drying my confidence with the bike was getting worse. I tried to keep the pace but in the last two laps Cluzel and Krummenacher overtook me. I'm really angry because we know we have the potential to do much better, as we have shown so far in the other races and we didn't take the opportunity to make a better result. Anyway we finished another race in the top 10, but we will work hard to be back closer to the front at Donington."
